Abstract

1317246 Handlebar P W BOTHWELL 3 June 1970 [3 June 1969] 27992/69 Heading B7E In a handlebar for motor cycles and the like, a generally U-shaped rigid guard 13 covered with resiliently deformable material is attached to the handlebar at opposite ends of a hand grip portion and extends forwardly when the handlebar is in use. A brake lever 17 is pivotally mounted on a flange 18 secured to the guard 13 to operate an hydraulic brake cylinder 12. The hand grip portion comprises a twist-grip control 19 which can be removed by unscrewing a plate 14. A switch escutcheon 20 is secured to the flange 18. The resiliently deformable material is rubber which around the end portion 26 of guard 13 is slotted to receive the end of brake lever 17 to prevent the user's hand being trapped.
