Abstract

1316684 Rolling mill couplings ACHENBACH BUSCHHUTTEN GmbH 19 April 1971 [6 June 1970] 20046/71 Heading B3M The driving spindles 1 and 2 for the rolls of a rolling mill are provided with spindle heads 18 which can be set at a desired angle to the respective roll necks to facilitate roll changing. Each spindle is supported by a vertically adjustable roller 3 and carries a sleeve 11 which cooperates with the head. The sleeve is spring- loaded towards the head but is movable in the opposite direction by rollers 13 carried on pivoted arms 14. When the sleeve is moved by the rollers it contacts an inwardly directed flange 20 on the head. The contact between the sleeve and an adjustable screw 21 in the flange determines the amount to which the head is deflected from the axis of the spindle. A part-spherical face 24 on the end of the spindle co-operates with a face 23 of the head to accommodate tilting of the head. Teeth 26 and 27 provide a driving connection between the head and spindle.
