Abstract

1316547 Heat-setting apparatus DIENESHONEYWELL GmbH 1 Oct 1971 [3 Oct 1970] 45714/71 Heading B5B [Also in Division F2] A heated roller or godet useful in the heatsetting of synthetic filaments comprises a roller shell 4 rotatable about a stationary (e.g. electrical inductor) heater 6, 7 mounted on a support 1 which supports a heat sensor 11 into an annular groove 9 in one end of the shell, there being a blanking member 12 projecting into the groove to restrict air movement around the sensor. The member 12 may include a continuous flange only broken to accommodate the sensor, or it may comprise only a pair of baffles, one each side of the (or each) sensor. The member 12 may be of magnetizable material, of ferrous material like the shell 4 and mounted on an insulating part 5 on the support 1, or of a material of lower conductivity (e.g. ceramic) than the shell.
