Abstract
1316423 Catches G K N TRANSMISSIONS Ltd 22 May 1970 [14 May 1969] 24468/69 Heading E2A [Also in Division F2] A spring-loaded detent for locating a gearshift fork 14 in its gear engaged positions, comprises a roller 18 freely rotatable on a pin 19 of a sheet metal arm 15 clamped at 16 to the shift fork shaft 11 and engaging a profiled surface 25 of a nylon block 23 resiliently mounted in a housing 20 secured at 23 to the gear casing 10, the block 23 being resiliently mounted and thus spring loaded towards the roller 18 by a rubber pad 24 (Fig. 1) or coil springs 28 (Fig. 4) whereby the shift fork roller 18 engages one or other of two locating depressions 26, 27 in the profiled block 23. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the block 23 is replaced by a profiled leaf spring (30) riveted at one end 31 to the casing 10. The profiled surface of the block 23 or spring (30) between the two locating depressions 26, 27 may be formed i.e. sloped to give a "snap-action" effect when moving the shift fork between its two locating positions. The arrangement may be reversed with the roller 18 rotatably supported on the casing 10 and the block 23 resiliently mounted on the arm 15 or on the side of the shift fork 14.
