Abstract

1359477 Vehicle direction indicator switches JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 22 Nov 1971 [12 Dec 1970] 59189/70 Heading G4Q A vehicle direction indicator switch which can be cancelled in use from either of two operative positions comprises rotor 16 carrying operating lever 36 and pivoted at 17 on to base 11, detent means 23, 24 holding the rotor in the off or operative positions, striker 29 rotatable with steering shaft 13, and cancelling means 33, 34 mounted on the rotor and engageable by striker 29 when the rotor is in one of its operative positions and the steering shaft is being returned to its normal position, the resistance to movement of the cancelling member relative to the rotor being greater than the resistance imparted to the rotor by the detent means; the cancelling means comprises rollers 33, 34 held in V-shaped grooves 31, 32 by spring-loaded channel-shaped part 28. It is possible for the striker to pass the cancelling means when the steering shaft rotates in the opposite direction and when the rotor is held in operative position manually.
