Abstract

1316329 Scrubbing cracked gas BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 7 Oct 1970 [8 Oct 1969] 47651/70 Heading C5E Emulsion formation is prevented when cracked gas containing acetylenes and olefines, obtained in the submerged flame method, are scrubbed with water by adding to the water an alkaline reagent to set up a pH of 7À5-12À5 in the washing water. Suitable alkaline reagents are NaOH, KOH, Na 2 CO 3 , NaHCO 3 , ammonia and/or (NH 4 ) 2 CO 3 used in amount 1-4 wt. per cent. A preferred pH is 8-8À9. The alkaline reagent is preferably a waste liquor from a fine washing in the working up of products obtained in the submerged flame method.
