Abstract

1423629 Disazo dyes E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 4 June 1973 [8 June 1972] 26547/73 Heading C4P New disazo dyes of formula wherein SO 3 M is meta or para to -N=N-, R 1 is H, CH 3 , OCH 3 or Cl, R 2 and R 3 are independently H, CH 3 or OCH 3 , R 4 and R 5 are independently H, Cl or CH 3 but only one can be Cl, R 6 is CH 3 or C 2 H 5 and M is H or an alkali metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium cation are prepared by condensing disazo dyes of the above formula but wherein is replaced by OH, with propylene oxide or butylene oxide in aqueous alkaline medium. The dyes are preferably used to colour synthetic polyamide fibres in yellow to orange shades. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,330,383.
