Abstract

1354011 Acetylenic glycols; potassium alcoholates BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODAFABRIK AG 24 Sept 1971 [26 Sept 1970] 44585/71 Heading C2C Acetylenic glycols are made by reacting aldehydes or ketones with acetylenic monoalcohols in an aliphatic and/or aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and a potassium primary and/or secondary C 4-8 alcohol condensing agent. The potassium alcoholates, used in the above process, may be made by azeotropically removing water from a reaction mixture of KOH and the alcohol and then azeotropically removing excess alcohol by distillation in a hydrocarbon solvent preferably the solvent to be used in the process of the invention.
