1300431 Production of 6-alkoxy-5,6-dihydro- 4H - pyrans and trimethyl - 2 - cyclohexene-1- ones BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 15 May 1970 [16 May 1969] 23570/70 Heading C2C The invention relates to the production of (a) a 6-alkoxy-5,6-di-hydro-4H-pyran having the general formula in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are different substituents selected from hydrogen and methyl and R<SP>3</SP> is an aliphatic radical having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; and (b) a trimethyl-2-cyclohexene-1-one having the formula which comprises (a) contacting vinyl ether of the formula R<SP>3</SP>OCH=CH 2 with 3-methyl-2- hexene-4-one or contacting an isopropenyl ether of the formula R<SP>3</SP>OC(CH 3 )=CH 2 with 2- methyl-1-pentene - 3-one and (b) contacting the compound having the Formula I prepared in step (a) with a strong acid.
