Abstract

1421224 n-Paraffin-urea adducts DEUTSCHE TEXACO AG 19 April 1973 [27 April 1972] 19011/73 Heading C5E n-Paraffin-urea adducts are produced by diluting a mineral oil (e.g. gas oil or spindle oil) with a solvent mixture consisting of 95-70 volume per cent of one or more C 5 or C 6 hydrocarbons and 5-30 volume per cent of methyl isobutyl ketone and treating the diluted oil with an aqueous or alcoholic solution of urea. The adduct can be formed at 20-40‹ C. with an aqueous solution of urea saturated at 70‹ C. and a diluent consisting of methyl isobutyl ketone together with isopentane, hexane or benzene. The adduct, suitably of particle size below 0À1 mm. is separated from the dewaxed oil solution, washed with the solvent mixture and then decomposed by heating and/or treating with water and/or an organic solvent.
