Abstract

1316239 Printing plates W R GRACE & Co 28 Feb 1972 [5 March 1971] 9019/72 Heading B6C Flexible thin printing plates are secured to stereo printing cylinders through the intermediary of saddle members each saddle member carrying in longitudinal gaps in both end edges slidable plate securing and tensioning means. Such means comprise interengaging bar and slidable bar elements 12, 26, the bar 12 beinge movable in a direction horizontal to the saddl when in position on the printing cylinders whilst the bar element 26 is movable in a direction parallel to the cylinder axis. Each plate end 16 is bent and has slots 18 for engagement with studs 14 of the bar 12 the resiliancy necessary for tensioning being provided by the pin and slot connections between the bars 12 and 26. Such connections include pins 28 axed to the bar 12 and pins 32 mounted on one side wall of the associated longitudinal gap in the saddle these pins engaging slots in the bar 26 which are shaped to provide cantilever spring fingers 30 bearing on the pins.
