Abstract
1315889 Hot gas engines UNITED STIRLING (SWEDEN) AB & CO KB 21 Dec 1971 59267/71 Heading F1S The invention relates to a hot gas engine comprising two cylinders 2, 3 and 4, 5 and two pistons 6, 8 and 7, 9 each working in a respective cylinder, the two outer spaces 10, 11 in the cylinders being inter-connected through a heater 12 a regenerator 13 and a cooler 14 connected in series and the two inner spaces. 18 communicating with a pressurized crank-casing according to the invention the outer parts 2, 4 of the cylinders are of small diameter than the inner parts 3, 5, a shoulder surface being provided between the two parts of each cylinder. The inner spaces may communicate with the crankcasing each through a non-return connection 20. The non-return connections may be established by means of piston rings allowing gas flow in one direction only between the pistons and cylinder walls. The working gas may be hydrogen or helium.
