1315826 Electric cables PIRELLI GENERAL CABLE WORKS Ltd 18 Oct 1971 [11 Nov 1970 3 March 1971] 53591/70 and 5944/71 Heading H1A A cable comprising an insulated conductor is screened by tapes having a layer of semiconducting plastics and a layer of insulating plastics, the tapes being wound with their insulating layer facing the cable insulation. Each layer may be solid or fibrous or consist of a layer of both solid and fibrous material; the fibrous material may be woven or non- woven. The semi-conducting layer may comprise carbon-loaded high density polyethylene or polypropylene. The insulation may be of plastics or wholly or partly of paper tapes. The cable may be oil- or gas-filled.
