Abstract

1315005 Ingot casting processes KOBE SEISKOSHO KK 7 May 1970 [8 May 1969] 22037/70 Heading B3F A killed steel ingot is cast and, to lessen segregation, during its solidification a substance that boils between 450‹ and 1500‹ C. is added to the molten metal, to vaporize and stir the steel. The stirring agent may be an element alloy compound or mixture containing (1) at least one element from the elements of Group Ia and IIa of the Mendeleef Periodic Table and Zn; or (2) a halide of an element of Group Ib, IIIb, IVa, IVb, VIa, VIIa or VIII of the Periodic Table. In the examples the following conditions were used.
