Abstract
1314217 Bearings; leaf springs DURIAWERK KARL KEMPF KG 26 June 1970 31149/70 Headings F2A and F2S An anti-friction bearing pad which is located between leaves 17, 18, Fig. 5. of a spring, has a porous metal layer 12 which contains an additional metal which is more electro-negative than iron to provide protection against corrosion and is impregnated with P.T.F.E. The layer may be of sintered bronze, for example, and the electro-negative metals may be zinc, cadmium, magnesium and aluminium, for example. In an embodiment a steel disc 10, Fig. 2 has a central hole 11 therein and has a powder mixture of bronze, graphite, molybdenum sulphide, tin and lead sprinkled thereon through a wire mesh. The disc 10 with its layer of powder, is then sintered under a protective gas to form a firmly adhering porous anti-friction layer 12. The latter has an electro-negative metal, such as zinc for example, incorporated therein by diffusion, tumbling or a galvanic method. The whole assembly is then impregnated with P.T.F.E. The wire mesh produces grooves 14, Fig. 4, which collect dirt &e. A layer 15 of electro-negative metal is diffused or galvanically applied to the steel disc 10. The pad is provided with a flange 13 by which it is locked into a hole 19, Fig. 5, in the leaf 18.
