Abstract
1314206 Gas filtration apparatus WHEELABRATOR CORP 22 July 1970 [12 Aug 1969] 35447/70 Heading BIT A gas filtration apparatus comprises a housing 108 divided by a cell plate 110 into a dirty gas plenum 122 containing filter tubes 104 and a clean gas plenum 124. Dirty gas entering the apparatus is prevented by baffle 106 from impinging directly on the filter bags and is directed downwards towards dust hopper 114. The filter bags are cleaned by reverse flow pulses of gas from compressor 132 which enter the bags from nozzles 134 coaxially arranged within venturis 118 so that secondary cleaning gas is drawn into the bag by the venturis in response to the cleaning pulse through the nozzles. Several suitable types of inlet baffle 106 are described (Figs. 5-9, not shown some of which have perforations therein. A further form of the filtration apparatus is described (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) in which the filter tubes extend upwardly from a lower clean gas plenum into an upper dirty gas plenum with the open ends of the tubes facing downwards. In this embodiment the cleaning nozzles extend upwardly into the mouths of the cleaning tubes.
