Abstract

1313434 Temperature controlled valve FILTERWERK MANN & HUMMEL GmbH 19 April 1971 [12 March 1970] 23368/71 Heading F2V [Also in Division F1] A valve for use in regulating inlet air temperature of an I.C. engine comprises a valve chamber 25 to which air is supplied via a bleed bore 30 and a valve bore 26 which is closed by valve body 28 actuated by a bi-metal spring 29 when the temperature of the air in chamber 25 is less than a predetermined value. Closure of valve bore 26 allows the vacuum in inlet manifold 1 when throttle 3 is closed to be applied via pipe-line 18 and chamber 25 to a vacuum chamber 15, to pivot a valve 12 to open a heated air inletc onduit 10.
