Abstract

1313040 Ascension pipes SIMON-CARVES Ltd 4 Oct 1971 [19 Feb 1971] 46010/71 Heading C5E The pipe (18) located between an ascension pipe and a gas collecting main, see Fig. 1 (not shown), is connected to the main by a tubular member (11) which carries a swivelling valve disc seal at its lower end and a flushing water pipe 32 at its upper end. The member (11) is joined to the pipe (18) by a flange 25 having an annular lip 28 which projects into the member (11) and defines an annular space with the upper wall 31 of the member (11), the pipe 32 being located in this space with a baffle-plate 34 immediately below the end 33 of the pipe 32. The plate 34 is supported by an arm 35 from a lid through which the pipe 32 passes. Passage of flushing water into the member (11) and the ascension pipe is prevented by the flange 25 and lip 28.
