Abstract

1312915 False twist device G A CARRUTHERS 8 June 1970 [13 June 1969 15 July 1969] 30003/69 and 35448/69 Heading DID A yarn is false twisted by engaging it between two surfaces 10, 11 which provide a nip between them and at least one of which surfaces is rotating, thereby rolling the yarn about its own axis so as to false twist it, the yarn being engaged between the surfaces in the region of the nip but not passing through the nip, the yarn is so tensioned that it is biassed into the nip. As described, one surface can be stationary (Fig. 1) or both may rotate in the same or opposite directions. The rollers can have different frictional properties. The rollers can have parallel or oblique axes. One of the rollers may be axially movable (see Figs. 9-12 not shown).
