1312894 Locks HUWIL-WERKE HUGO WILLACH & SOHNE 26 April 1971 [9 May 1970] 11469/71 Heading E2A A lock which is actuated by a magnetic key comprises a pluralityof locking chambers 1 which each contains a freely movable blocking body 2, each blocking body being movable by the key into alignment with a release chamber 5 respectively and moved into the release chamber on releasing the lock, each blocking body falling to one side of the release chamber by gravity when the key is removed. The lock comprises a push button 8 having a key passage 9 and a flange 18 abutting a front plate 15 of a lock housing 16. The push button has a shoulder 21 for actuating a spring urged bolt 19 and a stud 11 movable in a socket 10 and urged outwardly thereof by a spring 17. The socket supports the release chambers 5 which are closed by spring urged pins 6. On inserting the magnetic key in the key passage 9 the bodies 2 are moved to align with the chambers 5 and on pressing the push button the bodies enter the chambers and the shoulder releases the bolt 19. In another embodiment the key passage is in front of the front plate 15 and a bolt actuating plate supports the pins and is supported in the housing by a spring. A further spring between the push button and the socket ensures that the bodies 2 fall freely under gravity from the release chambers 5. Instead of portions 13 of the lock socket having the chambers 5 being located on a circle as shown in Figure 2 they may be in a row and the locking chambers are crescent shaped to decrease the size of the lock. The padlock shown in Fig. 12 is releasable when a magnetic key is applied thereto to raise the bodies 2 to align with the pins 6a so that the bodies depress the pins into the chambers 35 when the yoke 31 is pulled to the releasing position by displacing the plate 33. Instead of the springs 7 and the spring loaded plate a resilient material may be used such as plastics.
