1312577 Folding tables ANONIMA CASTELLI SAS DI CESARE CASTELLI & C 20 Sept 1971 [19 Sept 1970 23 June 1971] 43701/71 Heading A4H A folding table comprises four metal frames 2 each having a column portion 4, a table-top support member 3 and a foot member 3a, and four table top portions 5 each of quandrant section. Each column portion 4 is of quandrant section see Fig. 9 (not shown), and adjacent column portions 4, except for one pair, are pivotally linked by link members 13 each having aspigot S fitting into the column portion 4 and mounting the tabletop support member 3, a pin 12 on each link member 13, except one, extending into a bore 12' in an adjacent link member 13. In the erected position, Fig. 6, the column portions 4 form a single central column with adjacent edges 7 and 14 of members 4, 13 respectively abutting. In the folded position, Fig. 5 (not shown), the column portions 4 are arranged in a row with adjacent edges 16 of members 4 abutting. Similar link members 13 (not shown), are also provided at the bottom of the column portions 4. Each tabletop portion 5, made of transparent plastics, has a tubular portion 5a at one edge pivotally mounted on a table-top support member 3, and resilient rib 5b and flange 5c on the other edge to clip around the portion Sa of an adjacent table-top portion 5 in the erected position. When the tabletop portion 5 is raised from its vertical folded position, to enable the rib 5b clear the adjacent portion Sa in the horizontal position, the top portion 5 is moved outwardly against a spring 17. In a modification, Figs. 10-12 (not shown), each table-top portion (25) is completely removable and has at its edges flanges (33a) that are slideably received in grooves (27) in adjacent table-top support members (23). The flange (33a) is retained in the groove (27) by a spring urged ball (28). Alternatively, each table-top portion can have the outline of a square, rectangle or sector of an ellipse. Each foot member 3a has an adjustable stud 6.
