Abstract

1312326 Cycle seats M MORSE 13 Oct 1970 48487/70 Heading B7E A bicycle seat consists of two frame parts 11, 12 connected at their forward ends such that in use the upper frame part 12 may pivot about two horizontal perpendicular axes provided by a threaded interengagement 37, 38 and by a pivot pin 47 thereby allowing a side-to-side and an up- and-down motion of the part 12, and the parts 11, 12 being connected at their rear ends by a polyvinyl copolymer ball member 64 which is locked by a nut 77 to part 12 and by a nut 83 to part 11 after the desired longitudinal position of the part 12 has been achieved by rotating portion 37 in bushing 38. A slot 25 in part 11 defines the range of longitudinal movement of the part 12. The connection between the ball and the part 11 includes a valve by which the ball may be inflated. The part 12 mounts a foam rubber or polyurethane seat element 14 having a cover 60. The part 12 may be rotated about the axis of bolt 54, against the action of spring 56, if the seat is subjected to an impact.
