Abstract

1311762 Printing apparatus DE LA RUE GIORI SA 21 May 1970 [23 May 1969] 24741/70 Heading B6C An intaglio printing cylinder 2 is wiped by a rotating roller 1 and ink accumulations are removed from the roller 1 by an edge-leading scraper 36 and by passage of the periphery of the roller 1 through a receptacle 3 containing a cleaning fluid. The scraper 36 may be of steel sheet, and is tripped into and out of contact with the roller 1 as required. Within the receptacle 3 edge-trailing scrapers 33-35 may bear against the periphery of the roller 1. Preferably the scrapers 33-35 are of rubber. The cleaning fluid in the receptacle 3 may be an aqueous alkaline fluid, and the roller periphery may be scrubbed by a brush 32 and scraped by a further scraper 47 of, for example, polytetrafluoroethylene, then cleaning fluid residues may be removed by a water spray and the surface of the roller 1 be dried by a further scraper or by a felt wiper.
