Abstract

1328512 Cleaning blanket cylinders in situ OXY-DRY INTERNATIONAL Ltd 25 Aug 1970 [25 Aug 1969] 42333/69 Heading B6C In an apparatus for cleaning a blanket cylinder 16 in situ, solvent is first applied with a rotating axially reciprocable brush 32 and the blanket is subsequently wiped with an absorbent covered roller 34 the housing accommodating the brush and the roller being such that both parts are not only easily accessible but through a pneumatic arrangement the brush is tripped on to the cylinder and withdrawn before the roller is applied. The solvent is applied to the brush throughatube and nozzles 80, 82, Fig. 5 and the contaminated brush is cleaned by a flicker bar 100. Matter depositing on the floor of the housing is washed away by a solvent stream. Water may be employed as a solvent prior to the use of a chemical solvent such as a hydrocarbon.
