Abstract

1310737 Flexible conduits AUTOMATION INDUSTRIES Inc 25 Aug 1970 [28 Aug 1969] 40874/70 Heading F2P A flexible conduit comprises a helical support structure 14 incorporating a pair of electrical conductors 11, 12 encased in an insulating shield 13 and a wall having an internal helical groove in which the support structure is located, the inside surface of the support structure being substantially flush with the inside surface portions of the wall between the turns of the helical groove so that the inside surface of the conduit is substantially smooth. In the embodiment described the wall is comprised by inner and outer layers 15, 21 each made up of a helically wound strip of thermoplastic elastomeric material, with the widths of the inner and outer strips being sufficient to cover one and three turns of the supporting helix respectively. Axial and circumferential reinforcing filaments 16, 17 are disposed between the two wall layers with the filaments 17 helically wound between the turns of the helical support to limit straightening of the axial filaments 16 as the conduit is bent. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,019,370.
