Abstract
1310641 Feeding sheets MITA INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 3 June 1971 [4 June 1970] 18750/71 Heading B8R A copying apparatus comprises a treatment zone which includes a developing station 9 and may also include a charger 4, exposure station 5 and fixing station 10, has a feed mechanism comprising mechanism for feeding sheets to and through the zone, e.g. a clutch operated roller 2 for intermittently separating sheets from a pile 1, and continuously operable forwarding mechanism, e.g. rollers 11a-11e, for feeding the sheets through the zone, a first detector S1, e.g. a microswitch or photo-electric detector, positioned at the first nip of the forwarding mechanism or downstream thereof but upstream of the developing station, a second detector S2 positioned at, or downstream of, the discharge point of the forwarding mechanism, and actuating means for the mechanism for feeding sheets, e.g. the clutch 3, this means being connected to an electric power source (13) via a normally closed switch, e.g. contacts (b) (c), Fig. 4 (not shown), of a relay (R), opened by a signal from said first detector S1 and reclosed by a signal from said second detector S2 so that if a sheet sticks in the feed path between the two detectors further sheets are not fed since the switch is not reclosed. A switch (S3), Fig. 4 (not shown), is manually closed or placed at the beginning of the feed path, so that it is automatically closed, to initiate the feeding cycles, and may incorporate a sheet counter. A switch (S5), closable only when a sheet is not being fed through the apparatus, allows an alarm (L) to operate if a sheet is stuck. Switch (S5) may be closed by a projection (7111), Fig. 3 (not shown), on a reciprocable original document holder 7. A transistor flip-flop circuit or a relay discharge tube may be incorporated into the relay control circuit, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown).
