Abstract

1310366 Colour television tubes SONY CORP 29 May 1970 [31 May 1969] 25995/70 Heading H1D In a shadow mask comprising circular apertures arranged at the intersections of two orthogonal sets of curved lines, the diameters of the apertures are such that lines of constant transmission factor are circles having a common centre at the centre of the mask. It is shown that the equation of the curve joining apertures of the same diameter is where R is the radius of the spherical screen, L is its distance from the centre of deflection of the three co-planar beams, a is the ratio of the aperture diameter to the diameter of the central aperture, and k is a constant which expresses the variation of transmission factor with distance from the centre. If k is greater than or less than 1/RL, the curves are ellipses or hyperbolae respectively; if k=1/RL the equation defines lines parallel to the y axis. The disposition of the apertures may be as described in Specification 1,249,954.
