Abstract

1309615 Films of polyvinyl-acetals SEKISUI KAGAKU KOGYO KK 19 April 1971 [19 Feb 1970] 22099/71 Heading B5B A process for rendering films of polyvinyl acetals antiblocking comprises treating the surfaces of the films with an aqueous solution of hydrochloric, sulphuric, nitric or phosphoric acid, the acid being removed thereafter by washing. The films are preferably prepared from plasticized polyvinyl butyral and are washed after treatment with a water-alcohol mixture (mixed in ratio between 2 : 1 and 1 : 2 by weight). The acid treatment is suitably carried out by immersing the films in an acid bath maintained at a temperature between 5‹ and 30‹ C., the contact time being not more than 30 sees. Preferred acid solutions contain at least 20% by weight HCl, at least 20% by weight H 2 SO 4 , at least 30% by weight HNO 3 or at least 50% by weight H 3 PO 4 . Examples relate to the treatment of polyvinylbutyral sheets.
