Abstract
130,918. Hoeber, S. March 6, 1919. Reachers and long-arms. - An appliance for picking fruit comprises a forked piece 8<a> hinged at the upper end of the staff 1, a slotted shoot 10 forming an extension of the forked piece beyond the hinge, means for fixing the fork and shoot at selected angles for different kinds of fruit, and a flexible conveyer tube provided at its lower end with flexible and resilient baffles 6. The tube comprises a reinforced fabric funnel 3 and detachable cloth sections 4, 5 secured together by snaps. buttons, &c. The inclined baffles 6 are made of flexible fabric and are each provided with an elastic band 7 tending to contract the opening between the baffle and the tube. The forked piece 8<a> is connected to a forked support 2 by a hinge pin 9<c>, and is fixed in either of the positions shown by a removable pin 9. When in the inclined position indicated, the shoot 10 directs small fruits into the funnel 3.
