A mop, provided with a device for squeezing the rag, the rag being fixed to two supporting members connected to two rods, one of which can telescope into and can rotate in the other, is characterized in that the upper supporting member is a cup shaped member of resilient material and has a plurality of radial arms, for securing the rag whilst the lower supporting member is adapted to penetrate inside the upper supporting member and is provided with a projection which resiliently deforms the cup-shaped member when the mop is in the working position, so that the working plane of the rag takes an inclination with respect to the rods, the rag being also substantially cup-shaped and provided along the periphery with a plurality of holes for engaging the said radial arms of the upper supporting member and having a hole at the bottom to allow the passage of said projection. In Figs. 4 and 5 a rag 4 is attached by means of double hooks to the ends of radial arms 10 extending from the resilient cup-shaped part 8. The centre of the rag is attached to a support 15 carried on a rod 3. When the support 15 is pulled by the rod 3 into the sleeve 9 the projection 18 presses on the periphery of the cupshaped part 8 which is deformed as shown in Fig. 5. When the rod 3 is pushed forward the rag may be wrung by rotating with respect to one another the rod 1 (not shown) carrying rod 3 and the support 17 and the handle 5 carrying the cupshaped part 8. The projection 18 may be replaced by a wire member.
