805,506. Harvesting machines. JOHNSON, T. S. May 9, 1957 [June 7, 1956], No. 17611/56. Class 6(3). [Also in Group II] A riddle or shaker for use with a harvesting machine comprises a grid formed of inclined rods 1 which diverge towards the discharge end of the grid. The rods are secured to a rectangular frame formed by a U-shaped member 2 with a cross-bar 3 slung between lugs projecting downwards from the member 2. A bar 4, secured to the transverse limb of the member 2 and inclined to its plane, has apertures to receive the upper ends of the rods 1, the other ends of which are supported by abutments upstanding from the cross-bar 3, the apertures in the bar 4 being closer to one another than are the said abutments. One end of the frame is mounted between link pivots 5 attached to brackets 6 carried by a part 7 of the main frame of the machine ; the other end is mounted between link pivots 8, secured to members 9, 10 of the machine frame. The frame 2 is reciprocable through a link 14, a bell-crank 11 and a rod 15 connected to the power shaft of the machine, the bell crank 11 being carried by a bearing member 12 supported on a bracket extension 13 on the frame member 7. Short side rods 16 are mounted above the two outermost rods of the grid to act as guides. The rods 1 may be rubbercoated.
