Abstract

1308626 Crude oils; fuels ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 29 May 1970 25990/70 Headings C5E and C5G Hydrocarbon fuel or crude oils may contain a minor proportion by weight of a polymer obtained by the reaction of (1) a dicarboxylic acid, anhydride, or ester thereof (2) a polyfunctional compound containing at least two functional groups, said groups being hydroxy, primary amino, or secondary amino, (3) a monohydric alcohol or a primary mono-amine or a secondary mono-amine, and (4) a monocarboxylic acid, anhydride or ester thereof; provided that if there are only two or three carbon atoms in the carbon chain linking the carbonyl groups of the dicarboxylic acid, anhydride or ester, any amino group in (2) must be a secondary amino group, and provided that one or more of the reactants has a carbon- and hydrogen-comprising group also containing at least 18 carbon atoms, said group being attached to (a) one of the carbonyl groups in (1), or (b) the carbon chain linking two of said functional groups in (2) or (c) the hydroxy group or amino group of (3).
