Abstract
1308351 Pipe joints DES ANCIENS ETABS PAUL WORTH SA 14 April 1970 [21 April 1969 13 Feb 1970] 17680/70 Heading F2G [Also in Division F4] A tuyere stock for shaft furnaces comprises at least three serially coupled conduit means 17, 19, 22 lined with refractory material, the intermediate conduit means 19 being connected to conduit means 17, 22 by means of two compen- SECTION A-A sators 14 and 15 which comprise universal couplings and flexible hermetic coupling means, which take up the horizontal and vertical expansions occurring during operation and also correct the constructional inaccuracies during assemblage. The conduit 22 is welded at one of its ends to a horizontal collar 11<SP>1</SP> co-operating in the collar 11 of a bend portion 4 and at its other end to one side of the bellows unit which constitutes the flexible hermetic coupling means of compensator 14. The opposite side of the bellows units is provided with an intermediate collar 23 to which the central conduit 19 of rectilinear portion 29 is detachably affixed by means of a flange 18 and bolts. The universal coupling of compensator 14 between the tubes 22 and 19 is performed by means of an articulated mechanical connection comprising arms 21 and 25 connected rigidly to the flange 18 and the collar 11<SP>1</SP> respectively and rotatably to a first pair of attachments 41 and 41<SP>1</SP> and a second pair 42 and 42<SP>1</SP> respectively, which are arranged on a connecting ring 24 in mutually perpendicular axes. A steel sleeve 39 extends over the major part of the bellows units of compensator 14. At the place where the compensator 14 is mounted, internal linings 37 and 40 form a cascade joint 43, the interior of the joint being filled with a highly refractory and compressible fibre.
