Abstract

1307759 Collating and stacking rectangular plates ELECTRIC POWER STORAGE Ltd 3 Dec 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 42486/70 Heading B8C A conveyer 14 feeds three rows 11, 12, 13 of rectangular plates 10 to steps 16-18 arranged transversely of the conveyer 14, the plates 10 are advanced down the steps by a saw-tooth pusher 25 so that succeeding plates coming from the rows 11, 12 are deposited on to plates previously fed from the rows 12, 13, and the plates are then fed to a stacker 30. The steps may be horizontal or sloped away from the conveyer 14 and the stacker 30 to align the plates. The stacker comprises four open ended helices 31-34, (e.g. coil springs), between the convolutions of which the plates are received. The helices are rotated to raise the plates to form a stack between guides 51, 53. The helices are adjustable to cope with varying sizes of plates.
