Apparatus for separating textile materials from the top of a stack thereof comprises a pick-up box comprising a base-plate 2, having apertures 3 through which pairs of oppositely inclined needles 20 can be advanced and retracted on de-energization or energization of a solenoid 6, while the box can be lowered on to the stack and raised, the needles engaging the top-most material.
