Abstract

1307550 Cutting apparatus BERISFORDS Ltd 5 May 1971 [5 June 1970] 27171/70 Heading B4B [Also in Division D1] A travelling endless band blade 43 mounted on a loom passes over pulleys 65 at either side of the loom, whose axles 64 are mounted in pivotable blocks 61 for angular adjustment, and which blocks are mounted on further blocks 60 slidable along a shaft 52 to tension the blade. The shaft 52 is in turn vertically adjustable to align the two pulley wheels. Sharpening devices are also mounted on the loom acting on the lower run of the blade consisting of two grinding wheels 106 acting respectively on the upper and lower sides of the lower run of the blade. The grinding wheels -are rotatably mounted on members 101 which are vertically and angularly adjustable and the blade is forced against the wheels by members 107 made of nylon, for example which are also vertically and horizontally adjustable. The blade is guided between the two grinding wheels by a roller 81.
