Abstract

1307339 Razors: ELECTREX CORP 17 Dec 1971 Heading B4B [Also in Division H2] An electric razor comprises a cutting blade 14 mounted on a support 16 within a housing 12 the support including a pair of piezoelectric elements 22, 24 arranged in opposite polarity so that when an alternating current is applied to the elements one is shortened and the other lengthened thereby causing the blade to be reciprocated. The blade is located on the support by means of a pair of posts 34 provided on a bar 20, the piezoelectric elements being secured directly to the bar. A guard 38 is mounted on the housing, e.g. of synthetic plastics material, and may be adjusted to vary the closeness of the shave by means of a screw 39. The blade is held on the support by a cover 40 released by a screw 42; the blade may be formed with a serrated edge. The current is fed to the piezoelectric elements. via an ultrasonic generator 52.
