Abstract

1307337 Delivering sheets NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO 4 June 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 18936/71 Heading B8R Apparatus, shown in plan view in Fig. 1, for stacking sheets 62, e.g. letter mail on edge comprises a table 12, an edger plate 20 upstanding from the table, a stacking plate 18 upstanding from the table and having a portion 36 perpendicular to said edger plate, and a backing plate 22 parallel to, and arranged to be urged towards said stacking plate portion 36, e.g. by weighted cables 56, 58 running over pulleys 54, a sheet, having been fed by input means, e.g. by opposed endless belts 26, 28, to a position between the stack 60 and said stacking plate portion 36, being edged towards the edger plate 20 by a pusher plate 66 arranged to pass through an opening in the stacking plate and be driven, e.g. by crank means along a closed path whilst being maintained parallel to the portion 36, the pusher advancing and returning through the opening such that the sheet is moved from the portion 36 and advanced towards the edger plate. The movement of the pusher may cause vibration of the table, enhancing the edging effect on the sheet. Each sheet may be engaged by the pusher plate several times.
