1306838 Flame retardant compositions ASSOCIATED LEAD MFG Ltd A G WALKER and H A BARCLAY 28 July 1971 [30 July 1970] 37000/70 Heading C3P [Also in Division D1] Flame retardant compositions, e.g. for cotton fabric, comprise an aqueous dispersion containing 5-30 wt. per cent (based on total) of antimony trioxide, 5-20 wt. per cent of a plasticizer, a chloroprene polymer latex in such amount as to provide 10-20% polychloroprene solids in the dispersion, an emulsifying agent and an emulsion stabilizer. In examples, the plasticizer is chlorinated paraffin, the emulsifying agent is a mixture of sorbitan monooleate and polyoxyethylene-(20)-sorbitan monooleate, the emulsion stabilizer is sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, and the latex is of either straight polychloroprene or chloroprene/acrylonitrile copolymer. In one example 2,21-methylene - bis - (4 - methyl - 6 - tert - butyl phenol) is also present as antioxidant.
