Abstract
1,252,783. Emulsions of plasticized polymers. PRODUITS CHIMIQUES PECHINEYSAINT-GOBAIN. 3 Oct., 1969 [4 Oct., 1968], No. 48682/69. Heading C3P. An emulsion of a plasticized synthetic thermoplastic resin, comprising as plasticizing agent from 1 to 50 parts by weight of one or more chlorinated C 9 -C 13 alkane(s) per 100 parts by weight of the plasticized resin, the chlorinated alkane(s) having a chlorine content of at least 45 but less than 50% by weight and comprising at least 90% by weight of the straight-chain isomer(s) may be prepared by incorporating the plasticizing agent into an emulsion of the resin. In the examples aqueous emulsions of polyvinyl acetate and butyl acrylate-vinyl chloride copolymer are plasticized by the addition of dibutyl phthalate alone, an aqueous emulsion containing the chlorinated alkanes, white spirit, nonylphenol-ethylene oxide condensate, and methyl cellulose, a solution of an ethylene oxidefatty alcohol condensation product in the alkanes and a mixture of the alkanes, dibutyl phthalate and an emulsifying agent.
