Abstract
1306414 Container closure J SILVER 15 May 1970 23772/70 Heading B8T In a combined container 12 and closure cap 14 therefor, both preferably of plastics material, projecting lugs 24 on the inside of the cap engage tapered abutments 30 on the outside of the container and, as the cap is twisted, are cammed into recesses 28 urging a ridge 42 on the cap downwardly and over flange 38 into a channel on the container formed between the flange 38 and a further flange 40, thus locking the cap to the container. At the same time a second ridge 34 on the cap abuts the top edge 36 of the container to form a seal. A weakened portion, defining a tear strip 46 with finger-grip 48, is provided above the ridge 42 on the cap, such that the cap can be severed from the ridge 42 and removed from the container and thereafter replaced and locked on the container by the lugs. Flange 38 may have a tapered face 52 to aid the passage of ridge 42 thereover.
