Abstract
1305681 Coating metal surfaces with chromium TOYOTA CHUO KENKYUSHO KK 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970] 23449/71 Heading C7F [Also in Division B2] A metal surface is coated or impregnated with chromium by immersing the metal article in a fused salt bath comprising a boron-containing compound and a chromium - containing metal e.g. chromium itself or ferro-chromium. The boron-containing compound may be boric oxide, boric acid lithium borate, sodium borate or potassuim borate, and the bath may also contain NaCl, KCl, NaF, NaOH, KOH or P 2 O 5 in order to lower its melting point. Examples describe the coating of surfaces of iron, various steels, W, Mo, Ta, Nb, Ni, and Co.
