Abstract

1305285 Ignition systems T GR€SER 20 May 1970 [21 May 1969 11 May 1970] 24449/70 Heading F1B An electronic ignition device for an internalcombustion engine has an ignition distributor and an ignition circuit electrically connected with the distributor arm on the output side, the ignition circuit being controlled without contacts by a magnetic pick-up having a rotatable armature and a stationary induction coil 5. The armature of the magnetic pick up comprises a disk 2 of non-magnetic material mounted on the distributor shaft 11 for rotation therewith and a plurality of permanent magnets 3 inserted in the disk, the number of magnets corresponding to the number of cylinders of the engine and the magnets being uniformly circumferentially spaced on the disk and disposed at equal radial distances from the axis of rotation of the distributor arm. The magnets each have one of the pole faces exposed on the side of the disk remote from the distributor arm 1 and situated in a plane at right angles to the axis of the distributor arm. The induction coil 5 has a soft iron core 4 provided with an end face adjacent the side of the disk and arranged so that upon rotation of the disk the exposed pole faces move across the end face of the soft iron core. A transistor T 1 amplifier is connected to the induction coil 5 and a thyristor S 1 is connected to the transistor amplifier. The circuit includes an ignition coil 20 across the primary windows of which a capacitor controlled by a thyristor S 2 is discharged.
