Abstract

1304516 Cable trays A E WOODS 1 May 1970 [6 May 1969 2 Dec 1969 10 Feb 1970] 22998/69 58765/69 and 6447/70 Heading H2C A cable tray comprises side flanges for engaging a wall and holding the face of the tray spaced from the wall. The flanges may be inturned or outurned for fixing to the wall e.g. by screws or they may have slots 37 through which metal inserts 35, 36 can be inserted, the inserts having mounting holes so that the insert and thus the trays can be attached to a wall. Alternatively mounting lugs 39 can be provided on the tray or mounting holes can be provided in the tray itself. To mount cable clip fixing screws or bolts the face of the tray is provided with transverse rows of punched or drilled holes to accept self-tapping screws or to be tapped to receive bolts; alternatively strips 31-36 can be inserted behind the face of the tray to receive sliding grooved nuts for clip fixing bolts. In all forms both the operations of fixing the tray to a wall and the cables to the tray can be performed from the front of the tray. The tray may have a cross-section to provide conduits for the reception of further cables. Slots are provided at the sides of the tray for the insertion of such cables.
