Abstract
1304281 Traversing arrangements MONSANTO CO 2 Feb 1970 [10 Feb 1969] 4875/70 Heading D1J Yarn 28 is traversed onto a bobbin 24 by a guide 16 following a groove 8 in driven drum 4, and may pass around a driving roller 20 onto the bobbin. Near the ends of the traverse, the yarn is engaged by pins 38, 40 on rotating discs 30, 32, which carry it outside its normal traverse path, reducing the effects of reversal curves in the groove 8, and progressively shorten the yarn trial length, thus avoiding excessive build-up of windings at the package ends. The discs are mounted symmetrically at angles to the plane in which the yarn travels, and are driven so that the pins move faster than the traverse guide 16. The resultant winding pattern (developed in Fig. 13) is substantially helical, the slight reversal curves 48 being offset to occur prior to the point of reversal.
