Abstract
130,418. Caudron, R. Nov. 2, 1917, [Convention date]. Tanks.-Detachable fuel tanks for aeroplanes, vehicles, &c. have the feed-pipes connected to the junction pipes leading to the engines &c. by a contrivance comprising two elements, one integral with the ends of the feed-pipes, and the other with the ends of the junction pipes, and mechanism adapted to connect and disconnect the parts, so that the tanks may be detached and dropped overboard &c. The plate f is soldered to the glands a<1>, c<1> of the feedpipes a, c, and the glands b', d' of the pipes b, d are likewise fitted to a plate g, the plates f, g being pressed together against the action of the spring i by the rod h with its enlarged head and bayonet projection h<10>. By rotating the hand-lever k, the parts may be connected up or readily disengaged. Valves b<10> and d<10> are arranged inside the pipes b, d for compressed air and fuel. If twin engines are employed, the two pipes d are connected by a pipe with a valve therein, and the pipes b may also be connected together.
