Abstract

1303478 Jointing FORSHEDA GUMMIFABRIK AB 16 Oct 1970 [21 Oct 1969] 49239/70 Heading B3V [Also in Divisions E2 F2 and H2] A plate or ring is secured in a bore, which may be circumferentially grooved, by means of an elastomeric ring 13 vulcanized to its periphery and having a funnel-shaped portion 14 and a radial portion. In Fig. 1, the ring is of rubber and is bonded to a closing plate 11 at its circumferential edge 16 and the outer face 16a. The ring may be located in a groove 19 as shown in Fig. 2, or simply held by friction against a shoulder (Fig. 3, not shown). Alternatively, only the outer edge of the ring may lie in the groove (Fig. 4, not shown). In Fig. 5, a ball bearing 32 is sealed by a metal ring 34 having an elastomeric ring as described above, in addition to packing ring 21 on the shaft.
