Abstract

1,073,536. Bearing. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A.G. Nov. 4, 1964 [Dec. 18, 1963], No. 44967/64. Heading E2F. [Also in Division F2] In a bearing for structures such as bridges, one of the members (1), Fig. 1 (not shown) is cup-shaped and accommodates a pad (2) of resilient material; another member (3) is located in the mouth of the member (1) and forms a cover for the pad (2); and a sealing- ring (6) is received in a clearance space between the pad (2) and the member (3). The sealing-ring (6) is seated on the member (3), lies flush with the face therof which is adjacent the pad (2), and is of triangular cross-section. In modifications, the sealing-ring is of quadrilateral cross-section and made of synthetic plastics material; the cross-section of the seating for the sealing-ring is larger than the crosssection of the sealing-ring to provide a space behind the sealing-ring so that the material of the pad will be squeezed into said space; and the radially inner face of the sealing ring and the radially inner face of the member (3) are oppositely inclined.
