Abstract

1303131 Rotary positive-displacement machines WORTHINGTON CORP 3 Feb 1970 [7 Feb 1969] 5034/70 Addition to 1294329 The machine disclosed in the parent Specification is improved or modified mainly in that the flexible land is replaced by a member 70 comprising links 72, 74, 76, 78 pivotably connected to each other, an eccentric pin 68 on a rotary shaft 14 and a core section 44 of a housing 8. Flexible and resilient sealing-members 54, 56, 58 are engaged by the member 70 to prevent reverse flow between pairs of slots 38, 40 and 46, 48, which communicate with corresponding inlet and outlet conduits 20, 22, 24, 26. The working chambers 83, 84 may be connected in series or parallel by way of said conduits and slots. The shaft 14 may be replaced by a crank-shaft (not shown), and may be coupled to an electric motor or generator, Fig. 1 (not shown). The machine can function as a pump motor or motor-andpump. The members 54 may be made of steel, the member 70 of fibreglass, and the housing, core section and end plates 6, 10 of a reinforced ceramics-material.
