Abstract
1303002 Bed quilts HIGHAMS Ltd 31 Aug 1971 [2 Feb 1971] 3734/71 Heading A4S A bed quilt of variable thermal insulation comprises primary covers 11, 11', detachably secured together at longitudinal edges 12 by ties 13 and each consisting of a heat-insulating filling 15 which is prevented from migration within a fabric covering bag 11a, 11b, of cotton or cotton and polyester blend by button or channel quilting 14. The filling comprises layers 15a, 15b, preferably of polyethylene terephthalate fibre wadding in continuous filament or staple filament form and of weight 6 ounces per square yard. In modifications, the filling of one of the primary covers is a single layer or the primary covers are arranged so that the quilting of adjacent covers is staggered. In further modifications, the primary covers are detachably secured together by buttons, toggles, sliding clasp or press-stud fastenings, Velcro (registered Trade Mark) or by enclosure in a loose cover which may be closed at its ends. A band, or ties may be provided on the bed quilt to attach it to the mattress, or it may be shaped to engage the bed end or the primary covers are detachably secured together at transverse edges or round the whole perimeter.
